How to find the full path directory or root?

Date: 2002/02/18 14:51

Q:
I installed my first cgi script and I managed to get most everything
working but I am still trying to figure out how and where in the script do
I write a variable command.

I am hosted by netfirms and they don't supply the complete path ex:

/usr/local/etc/httpd/htdocs/namelist3

that's the full path I had with my last server. But at netfirms they only
say this:

Your full or absolute root path is:
$ENV{'DOCUMENT_ROOT'}

Remember to use double quotes around the path.
The full path to your www directory would be:
"$ENV{'DOCUMENT_ROOT'}/www"
The full path to your cgi-bin directory would be:
"$ENV{'DOCUMENT_ROOT'}/cgi-bin"

But where in my script do I write this?? You see, when someone submits his
name and email, I want them written in real time on a text file which is
called namelist3.txt and is located in a certain directory.

In my html code, I put,

<input type="hidden" name="emailfile"
value="/namelist3">

.since I don't know what path to put. Here is a copy of the cgi script...
Thanks!

#!/usr/bin/perl
