CGI and PWS4.0

Date: 2002/02/18 13:50

Q:
I currently have a Win ME OS and I have installed PWS4.0 on it to test Web
Pages I make.

I want to be able to use CGI Scripts to handle Form Validation and create
a Thank-you page but I can't get it to work unless I upload to my ISP and
run it live.

I want to be able to test the CGI Scripts on my local machine. I have
looked at the help in PWS but it is very scant in relation to CGI/Perl.

I have installed ActivePerl5.6 to c:\perl.

My PWS has setup the default directory at C:\Inetpub\wwwroot.

I cannot seem to be able to get CGI Scripts to work on PWS4.0 at all.

What am I doing wrong?

All help greatly appreciated.

A:
Usually if you install PWS before and ActivePerl after then ActivePerl
configures itself to execute Perl scripts. If it did not then you have to
open the PWS manager and configure the extension .pl to be handles by
perlIS.dll

However I did not ever do that on WinME, I did it only on Windows NT.

Peter
