Online Poll/Perl Script:

Date: 2002/01/10 09:20

Q:
Hello, I am a Graphic Designer and not a programmer. I've gotten by so
far, but now one of my clients sites has hit a snag. I've been working
with a Perl script poll that has been working fine for about 6 months. Now
all of a sudden, I'm getting this error every time I try to run it:

PerlScript: ERROR ptrpoll_logfile.txt does not exist. Creating a new
ptrpoll_logfile.txt...
PerlScript: ERROR writing ptrpoll_logfile.txt.

I've tried deleting the logfile, changing the name and nothing seems to
work. Right now I have a test poll up there using the exact files I
downloaded without changing/customizing anything and I'm still getting the
same error.

I noticed that I have been unable to set the permissions on the server. I
contacted the provider and they said that was for security purposes.. I
don't think that's the problem since it was running fine before.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully I gave you enough
detailed info. if not please let me know.

I am currently using Adobe go live to work on the site and FTP if that is
of any importance.

It seems to be a weird logic. It worked until they changed something, and
you say this implies that it has nothing to do with the fact that it does
not work now? On the opposit!

For me it seems definitely some security setting being too restrictive.

Peter
