I am lo*NAME-DELETED*ing for a perl script that runs from the command line and perform
an HTTP call to the web page and find out if that page has changed. If
yes, run a command. If no, run a command also. This is on a solaris
machine. Logging will also be great. Any ideas???

I recommend that you consult the following packages (one of them will fit
you, they implement similar things):
Net::HTTP
Libwww
curl
If none of them works you can find a http mirroringprogram az
http://peter.verhas.com/pogs/perl/webmirror
which is not the best (even I use wget instead), but implements web
mirroring in Perl, w/o any extra module, clean, clear code, so you can
learn from that.
